Additional Spiritual Gifts information

February 5, 2012

Below is a list of the spiritual gifts and their descriptions.

Administration is the ability to give wise direction for immediate and long range goals in the work of God, so as to devise and execute a plan to accomplish that goal.

Apostleship is the ability seen in those believers who are especially endowed by God to start and to strengthen new churches.

Discernment of Spirits is the ability to distinguish between truth and error, good and evil, the spirit of God and the spirit of anti-christ so that you know with assurance whether the behavior is worldly, satanic or from God.

Evangelism is the ability to share the gospel with unbelievers in such a way that men and women become disciples and responsible members of the Body of Christ.

Exhortation is the ability to minister words of counsel, encouragement, consolation and comfort in such a way that people feel helped or see the need to change their behavior.

Faith is the ability to discern with extra-ordinary confidence the will and purposes of God for the future and to act on this in trust.

Giving is the ability to contribute material resources to the work of the Lord with liberality, eagerness and cheerfulness.

HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR SPIRITUAL GIFTS
Step 1: Open your heart to God in prayer.
Step 2: Be ready to apply your gifts.
Step 3: Get informed.
Step 4: Begin with what you enjoy.
Step 5: Experiment as much as possible.
Step 6: Verify your effectiveness.
Step 7: Seek the opinions of others.

Hospitality is the ability to provide an open house and a warm welcome to those in need of food, lodging, or fellowship in a way that people feel loved and accepted.

Tongues is the ability to speak in an actual existing language, one has never previously learned, in order to communicate an immediate message from God.

Interpretation of tongues is the ability to understand a previously unlearned language and make it known in the presence of those assembled.

Knowledge is the ability to discover, accumulate, analyze, and organize biblical information and ideas that are pertinent to the growth and well being of the church.

Leadership is the ability to establish and set God ordained goals to motivate other believers to harmoniously work towards their accomplishment.

Mercy is the ability to feel genuine empathy for those who suffer and to translate that compassion into cheerfully done deeds that reflect Christ’s love in order to help alleviate that suffering.

Miracles is the ability to serve as a human intermediary through whom it pleases God to perform powerful acts that alter the course of nature.

Pastor/Teacher is the ability to assume long term pastoral responsibility to effectively guide, feed and protect a flock of followers of Christ.

Prophecy is the ability to communicate the word of God with authority and power in a way that brings conviction via the truth and people’s lives are changed.

Serving is the ability to identify unmet needs involved in a task related to God’s work and makes use of resources in order to meet those needs.

Teaching is the ability to communicate biblical truth relevant to the health and ministry of the body in such a way that others learn and are edified.

Wisdom is the ability to understand how biblical knowledge may best be applied to needs arising in the body of Christ.
